During over two decades as a trial lawyer, Tom has represented individuals, families and businesses in virtually every type of personal injury matter, business dispute and insurance claim. His success includes jury verdicts in 15 different counties throughout Florida and recoveries in excess of one million dollars in over 50 cases. Tom has served as lead counsel on cases brought in Alabama, Maryland, Connecticut and California. He also obtained what were, at the time, record verdicts in three different counties throughout the State of Florida. These include claims brought against major corporations, insurance companies, manufacturers, hospitals and medical centers. Some of Tom’s more notable cases have earned him significant recognition in the legal community – both locally and nationally. In 2007, Tom was recognized by the Daily Business Review as one of four “Most Effective Lawyers in South Florida” in the area of product liability law as a result of an unprecedented multi-million recovery against a Chinese manufacturer. This result was obtained only after unraveling an international corporate shell game and litigating in both State and Federal courts. This case was the subject of feature articles in multiple legal publications both locally and nationwide. Tom’s vast experience and significant results have earned him the distinguished “AV” rating from the Martindale Hubbell Directory, which is based upon the recommendation of other lawyers in the community and represents the highest rating obtainable. He is also one of the few trial lawyers in Florida to be board certified as a specialist in civil trial practice by both the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocates. Tom is a former president of the Miami-Dade County Trial Lawyers Association, and has been repeatedly recognized as one of the top lawyers in Miami by the South Florida Legal Guide as well as “Super Lawyers” - a publication which identified Tom as one of the top 5% of lawyers in the State as chosen by his peers and independent research. In his free time, Tom enjoys skiing, occasional snowboarding, bicycle racing, and endurance triathlons. However, his greatest joy is spending time with his four daughters. |
